I vividly remember a brief yet impactful conversation I had as an art student in Singapore. Rijuta asked me if I had ever been to Europe and I told her not yet. “You will, your art will take you there.” Her response was short and simple, yet aspiring and impactful.
I took her words like a mantra.
I keep pursuing my artistic career, constantly leaning towards the arts that are good for the community, the planet and people’s well-being.

Together with my team Collective Sonson, I work with local handicrafts and indigenous communities, reimagining daily objects with traditional techniques such as indigo dyeing, rattan weaving…
The joy and magic of co-creating arts
​
Apart from being a designer, I co-create retreats and workshops of arts, dance, improvisation in Vietnam (since 2020) and with Subtle Waters in Bali, Indonesia (2024). My newest labour of love Creative Play brought together 8 artistic individuals into a community of care, co-creations and creativity.
I live by “Tri Hita Karana” - the Hinduism-Balinese way of living a harmonious life. In order for one to live a harmonious life, it is important to practice one’s harmonious relationship with oneself, with others in the community, and with nature. So simple, so profound and oh so challenging! All my life’s practice is contained in these few words.
This guiding philosophy has brought me many magical moments. I feel rejuvenated and purposeful in each and every project I’ve been a part of.

It is for all of these above that I will be in Italy in August-September for Fate Lab artist residency - making an interactive art installation that holds the space for more public art and connection. I am overjoyed to be given this opportunity!

15 years later, my art finally takes me to Europe.
Why am I sharing my story with you?
I believe in making a living with my gift, to uplift people with it and at the same time uplift my bank account. Therefore I am sharing what I am confident to offer - design services and artworks for purchase - so that I can fund my Europe trip with joy.
I believe that spending money can be a source of joy - when you share your financial abundance with others and feel nourished in this exchange. When you are contributing your financial wealth to a world of multiple forms of wealth - arts, natural resources, meaningful connection and relationships.
​Though artist residency is partially funded, I will travel beyond, to other cities in Italy, Hungary, Spain, Portugal and tentatively France & Netherlands. This is my first time in Europe after 15 years of dreaming about it! I will take this opportunity to visit museums, art centers, Contact dance jams, libraries... and many more. The cost of living in Europe is much higher than Vietnam where I am from, I already am feeling a bit dizzy booking hostel!
